Please use the following checklist to help ensure that papers meet our specifications:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"checkbox\">\n<li>text is written in 12 pt Serif font, left-justified, with 1.5 line-spacing used for running text and single spacing for examples, figures, and tables<\/li>\n<li>page margins minimum 1.25 inches on all sides<\/li>\n<li>the paper contains no references to the author\u2019s name or affiliation, acknowledgements of people and personal communications, names of grants, projects, or other things which may reveal\/lead reviewers to guess\u00a0the author\u2019s name<\/li>\n<li>the PDF file or word-processor document does not include the author\u2019s name under \u201cDocument Info\u201d or \u201cDocument Properties\u201d<\/li>\n<li>a table of contents for the manuscript is included<\/li>\n<li>pages, section, examples, figures, and tables are\u00a0numbered\u00a0consecutively and correctly<\/li>\n<li>figures and tables are left in place;\u00a0references to these in the texts are accurate<\/li>\n<li>the paper uses footnotes rather than endnotes<\/li>\n<li>the paper contains a complete list of sources cited<\/li>\n<li>the paper contains a complete list of abbreviations used in examples and discussion<\/li>\n<li>analyzed examples \u00a0conform to the\u00a0<a title=\"Interlinearized examples\" href=\"https:\/\/www.americanlinguistics.org\/?page_id=93\">\u00a0<em>IJAL<\/em> style for the formatting of interlinearized linguistic examples<\/a><\/li>\n<li>all sources for linguistic data\u00a0are clearly indicated<\/li>\n<li>the provenance of all materials is clearly indicated, either in the manuscript or in a separate cover letter to the editors<\/li>\n<li>the English (or Spanish) in which the paper is written must\u00a0be of acceptable academic standard<\/li>\n<li>responses to reviewers: revisions and resubmissions must attach a separate document responding in detail to previous reviews; this document must be anonymous and separate from any cover letter to the editors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Papers that do not meet these specifications will be returned to the author for reformatting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Before being sent out for review, papers will undergo a technical check by the editorial assistant, who will ensure that the paper conforms to the minimal specifications outlined in the Guidelines for authors.
